2021 CPM Thame 10K

The CPM Thame 10K goes out through the historic town centre of Thame and back along the traffic free Phoenix Trail. The organisers, Thame Runners provide a web page giving the history of the race. It says "The CPM Thame 10K race found its roots back in the 1980s. ... Thame Runners took over the running of this annual race in 1985 and have done so since. ... The course used to run through Thame High Street to Towersey’s Windmill Road and back along the Risborough Road via the High Street to the playing fields at Lord Williams’s School next to the Thame Leisure Centre. However, with increased traffic and Sunday store openings, the route was changed to have the return make use of the traffic-free Sustrans Phoenix Trail. ... The feedback on the race is highly positive with many appreciating the relatively flat course (nearly half traffic-free), enthusiastic marshals, and a pleasant urban/rural mix of a route going through the historic market town centre of Thame and surrounding countryside."
map of the race route.
The above map was produced by the course measurer in 2008. The course is essentially in 4 bits: the first 3K is through the town of Thame - here it attracts a lot of support from the locals - and some of this has a road closure. The next 2K is along a quiet straight road to the village of Towersey. This is followed by a 4K stretch along the Phoenix Trail, a disused railway line that now forms part of National Cycle Network Route 57. The final K starts along a leafy footpath behind a housing estate and is then back to the finish along the road used earlier.

The 2021 CPM Thame 10K took place on Sun Sep 5th. The race had UKA licence 2020-40129. It is one of the races of the Oxfordshire AA Road Race Grand Prix.
